OpenRTM-aist includes sample components, making it possible to easily experiment with its features. The samples include source, and can be used as a base for development.

The name server must be started to connect components together. If you have installed the Windows C++ version of OpenRTM-aist, the Start Menu will contain an entry for this at OpenRTM-aist > C++ > Examples > Start Naming Service. Otherwise, the name server can be started in Windoes using one of the following:
    • Start Naming Service.bat (C++)
    • rtc-naming.py (Python)
    • start-orbd.vbs (Java)

When OpenRTM-aist is installed using the installer, it is also possible to start the name server from the Start Menu through OpenRTM-aist > Language > Tools. Under other operating systems, the name server may be installed and started automatically by your computer's startup system. If not, it can be started by executing the "rtm-naming" command.

This chapter is written on the assumption that RTSystemEditor is installed. Please refer to the installation of Eclipse tools for details of the installation of RTSystemEditor. (Parts of some samples may operate without RTSystemEditor.)
