openrtm.org is the official website of OpenRTM-aist, an open source robotic technology middleware which is developed and distributed by Japan's National Institute of Advanced Industrial Science and Technology.

OpenRTM-aist Version 1.0.0 has been released

The latest release version is OpenRTM-aist-1.0.0-RELEASE. Source and binary packages for Linux and Windows are available from here. Current versions for each language are:

  • C++: 1.0.0-RELEASE
  • Python: 1.0.0-RELEASE
  • Java: 1.0.0-RELEASE
  • tools: 1.0.0-RELEASE


The Windows installer package available from the link to the right includes all of the libraries, dependencies and tools required to try the example components. Please see "Let's start OpenRTM-aist in ten minutes" after it downloads it. Have fun!

OpenRTM-aist-1.1.0-RC2

The release candidate 2 version of OpenRTM-aist (C++ version) 1.1.0 has been released. It is available from download page.

Only source code and Windows installer are available currently. Windows installer includes OpenCV2.1 and a log of sample component of OpenCV.

RPM package for Fedora14 (Laughlin) released

The new version of Fedora Linux, Fedora14 (Laughlin) has been released on November 2nd, 2010. This is a belated release, but RPM packages of OpenRTM-aist-1.0.0-RELEASE (C++) have been released.

Installation scropt:pkg_install100_ubuntu.sh is convenient to install OpenRTM-aist. See Installation to Fedora for detailed installation process.

RPM packages are available from http://www.openrtm.org/pub/Linux/Fedora/releases/14/Fedora/, please download them directly if you need them.

Packages released for Ubuntu 11.04 (Natty Narwhal)

Ubuntu Linux 11.04 (Natty Narwhal) was released on April 28th 2011. OpenRTM-aist-1.0.0-RELEASE (C++) packages for this version have been released on the openrtm.org repository server.

For easy installation, please use the installation script. More the details about installation are available at the Ubuntu/Debian system page.

rtshell 3.0 and rtctree 3.0 released

We have released version 3.0 of the rtshell command-line toolkit and rtctree component management Python library for OpenRTM-aist. This new release adds a large number of new commands and improves the existing commands. Major new features include:

  • Composite component support
  • System consistency checks
  • Log file recording and play back
  • System visualisation

OpenHRP 3.1.0-Release

A new version of OpenHRP3, OpenHRP 3.1.0-Release, has been released. Details are available at the OpenHRP3 official website. Source code and Ubuntu packages (with installation script) are available from here.

The Ubuntu packages are stored in the same repository server as the OpenRTM-aist packages. If you have already added OpenRTM-aist's repository server to the source.list file, OpenHRP can be installed by apt-get command.
